Installation of secondary support, including:
- Mega bolting
- Rib bolting
- Cavity filling
- Ventilation stoppings on retraction of longwall.
- SSS completed the final bolt up of longwall 10 face.
Long wall 9 recovery face line May 2004
The project was to establish a recovery face line for the longwall. It entailed 140 x 8mtr mega bolts in the roof, 75 x 6mtr mega bolts in the ribs and 130 fibrecrete chocks (approx 22000 bricks delivered and laid) all work was achieved in a period of 6 weeks with out incident.
Eloura Enterprise panel 2003
This project was to re-support 2000 mtrs of roadway for the next longwall, fully mesh the roof and ribs, mega bolt throughout with the density varying to the conditions. The longwall block also had 7 stubs averaging 30 mtrs each with one containing a large fall. The fall was supported, mega bolted and form work erected to allow the cavity to be filled. The cavity fill was completed and formwork removed to allow final support to be installed. This consisted of fibrecrete chocks. These chocks were used throughout the project to maintain a secure path for the retreat of the longwall. The longwall also encountered an area that the tailgate was to retract through dogleg roadway, with the tailgate to be driven on retraction. The plan was to support an airway, allowing the ventilation to return to the last line of cut throughs, approx 200 mtrs. This was achieved with the installation of J bolts and rock props. The project was a success with the wall retreating without incident; SSS worked as part of the longwall crew and installed all the support required. Other work carried out: retraction of service mains and ventilation stoppings
Longwall 8 2002-03
Due to the location of the gate roads to a known structure the main gate roads were extensively mega bolted on retreat, with some areas as many as 1 bolt per mtr, SSS also carried out the installation of all ventilation stoppings. The tailgate was timbered through out with prop setters and timber chocks.
Long wall 7 main gate rd 2002-03
The contracted work was completed inside the 12 week time frame without incident.
A 1km of road way re-supported, the roof meshed, a 5 bolt pattern with 9ft bolts, 1800 mtrs of ribs had to be meshed and bolted, mega bolts at 2-4 mtr intervals installed throughout.
E-8 and E-9 development panels 2002
Secondary support had been supplied on a needs basis, mega bolting had been done in both panels as well as rib support in box cut outs and two overcast shot and supported.
Thompson panel 2001-02
Belt heading was along side a large fault. The area had large cavities and support in this area was very difficult. A total of 300 mega bolts were installed in and around this area, which was only 500 mtrs in length. Rib support was also carried out, installing 4 mtr cables. The working height was at nearly 5 meters. Work was carried out with no incidence and targets met well within the time frame provided.
